Many thanks,

MaryJane Butters, I really could never thank you sufficiently, though I will attempt. The aroma of each beautifully and thoughtfully arranged vase after vase of fresh-cut flowers, the magnificent bread, oh, your stunning bread book, so reasonably priced with such applicable instructions. Our favorite Hallmark show under the stars in our own tub with fresh mountain breezes and stars peeking through. The beautiful night gown and apron so very, very kindly priced to accommodate the wallet, set a very dreamy tone, and I mean that in every sense of the word, I dreamed of this, never knowing it existed till this winter!

Thank you for years of industry and contribution to create a slice of heaven for the sore feet of travelers who appreciate the finest beauty … of beautiful earth and beautiful human hand artful touches. To restore and rest and revel and be inspired to sweat, to plan and to dream, to create with consistency, something of their own like unto what they've experienced.

Dear Mary Jane, thank you, thank you, for your hug and a splinter sample of your stories, oh, my curiosity abounds.

Enjoying our fairytale with wonder and marveling, and appreciation after appreciation,
–Riley and Emily Balling

June 17th—Arrival
Since I learned I was coming to stay at your farm the anticipation built. I imagined the walks, the baths, the solitude and reflection.

Driving in the last few miles I knew I was in for the best weekend in a long time.
When we arrived I was overwhelmed with joy and the beauty of your farm. I was where I belonged.

June 18th—Reflection
What gracious hosts. Thank you MaryJane and Mary L. Everything is perfect.
Loved meeting the new baby heifer, a visit with Mary L., and our walk. The flowers buzzing with activity as the bees busy themselves was a delight to see. Morning coffee this morning was so much better with the fresh cream!

Even the rain this morning couldn’t dampen the joy of sitting in a hot water bath with the view … oh the view!

June 19th—Leaving
It is hard to say goodbye to this beautiful place. What an experience. I will not forget the joy and peace I feel here.
No doubt I will be back.
Thank you for opening up your home to all of us.
We will keep these memories for a lifetime.

June 19th—Afterthoughts
I forgot to mention how beautiful the flowers are. They are so lovely in our rooms and smell amazing.

This journal—If I remember correctly you featured this idea in a magazine. I plan to go home and make several. My grandmother gave me a set of books when I was young—“The Ruth Fielding” series. There must be at least 20 of them. Some in better shape than others. They will make beautiful journals. The books were published around 1905 to start. I read many of them as a young girl.

My family—on both my mother’s side and my father’s side—come from farming. While I spent my youth and adulthood in Wyoming, I am a Minnesota farmgirl at heart!

June 28, 2022 | Britnee Miller

My family and I have come to stay at the farm! My mother-in-law, Penney; my father-in-law, Brian; my husband, Kellen; and myself, Britnee, have been looking forward to our trip here for the past two years.

We had plans to come and stay in the year 2020 after learning about all the amazing things that MaryJane does out here in Idaho. Penney reads the magazine cover-to-cover, every new release since 2014, when I gifted her the magazine subscription that year. We all very much enjoy the connection to nature and have a great appreciation for it. Brian and Penney are from Wyoming and Kellen and I are from Salmon, ID. This trip has been the perfect combination of nature and true “creature comforts.”

Upon arrival we were greeted by MaryJane and Mary L. and were given a warm welcome. They helped us carry our baggage to our cabins and then we were left to enjoy our space. The fresh flowers, clean cabins and soft linens are so inviting. I feel pulled in two directions; into my beautiful cabin and out into the fields of flowers.

We were able to visit the new baby cow and take Jasper the cat on a walk to the lookout on the north side of the property. The views of the rolling farm hills are worth the walk!

Although it rained the first night we stayed dry and plenty warm. This has been one of my most favorite and memorable trips! We will most definitely be back!
–Britnee Miller

June 20–22, 2022 | M.E.L.

June 21st, 2022 is our 64th wedding anniversary. My husband went to his glorious rest in 2019. Our precious daughters and granddaughters brought me here. This is amazing here. This cottage is lovely—everything! I can’t wait to see the rest of the farm. We’re having a salad out of the greenhouse for lunch! Thank you, thank you! And God bless your labors!
In His precious love,
–M.E.L.

Last Day …
Magic, magic, magic! This pretty much sums up our visit to MaryJane’s Farm. Hard to think about leaving today but I have memories to treasure for a lifetime … sleeping on a cloud every night (the bed/bedding is pure heaven); morning and evening baths gazing at the prairie (what luxury!); an unforgettable dinner guest one night; exploring the farm and prairie with an insistent tour guide—Jasper—the resident mouser; visiting the new baby; touring MJ’s beehives with MJ herself! And on and on …

Thank you so much for sharing this piece of heaven with us MaryJane! I’ll carry this joy with me always.

June 28, 2022 | Mike & Tiffiny Hewitt-Brown

Such a charming farm! We loved the open-air living, swing time, bathing, cooking, daydreaming. Craving the warmth of the fires—in July. A novelty for us Florida folk.

Mike said his goals for this vacation were to:

  • eat good food ✓
  • get lots of rest ✓
  • kick back and relax ✓

So of course I had to write a song about it.

“Kickin’ Back”
(Tiffiny Brown)
They say to stay in shape find something you like
Walk, swim, dance, run or ride a bike
Here’s an idea—it’s not lazing around
It’s working out, two feet off the ground

You don’t need weights or fancy shoes
You don’t need an app that tells you what to do
You don’t need much of anything
All you need … is a good porch swing

Chorus
Kickin’ back, on the front porch swing
Kickin’ back, you can workout everything
Kickin’ back, it won’t cost you a thing
Kickin’ back uh huh kickin’ back

Porch swing fitness, open night & day
There’s no contract, nothing to pay
You can do it solo or bring along a friend
You’ll never want your workout to end

You might think exercise is not for you
But here’s a workout most anyone can do
It’s a topnotch fitness regimen
Kickin’ back in the front porch gym

It’s summertime but don’t you sweat
A little push, that’s as hard as it gets
You could use a cushion, a pillow or two
It might be the workout for you

Repeat Chorus (as many times as needed)

Thanks Mary & MaryJane for a delightful stay!

Dear Diary,
This morning I woke up in the most wonderful place … peaceful, calm, beauty as far as the eye can see with a gentle breeze blowing throughout the day. Could this be a dream? I had slept so soundly—raindrops lulling me to sleep.

No. This was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.

Thank you to everyone here for making this a wonderful time. I would even call this place a dream come true!

MaryJanesFarm is amazing

First, the beauty, quality and cleanliness are top notch.
Second, the vistas are beautiful and keep going.
And lastly, the tranquility I’ve received … I will remember it always

P.S. Our constant companions—the wonderful birds!

P.P.S. And the beautiful flowers decorating our cabin do not wilt—just as the farm will never!

Summer birthday celebration for my daughter, granddaughter, and myself. This is our first visit to the farm, however not the last. Everything was just perfectly splendid. We felt like family from our very first email to our goodbyes and drive away. The farm was a true oasis to our spirits and hearts. Thank you to all who made our stay a memory forever.
